Recreation Committee

The Recreation Committee was created in May 2025.

The committee shall consist of six (6) members, including a chairperson and the director of the recreation department. Candidates must be Putnam County residents and reside in the commissioner districts they represent for the entirety of their term. Terms shall be from the date of appointment until December 31 of the same year and until a successor is appointed.

This committee is responsible for advising the Board of Commissioners with respect to parks, playgrounds, recreation centers, and other recreational activities and facilities in the county, including developing the annual budget and exploring opportunities for devises, grants, gifts, and bequests of money and property for the purpose of providing, establishing, conducting, and maintaining these facilities. After the initial appointment of all of the members of the committee, the members will be responsible for holding an organizational meeting at which they will adopt bylaws, which will include setting the dates and times of the regular meetings and the quorum and voting requirements. The committee chairperson will make quarterly reports to the Board of Commissioners. Compensation for members is $50.00 per meeting they attend, and $75.00 per meeting for the chairperson.
