Lodging Permit and Short-Term Vacation Rental License

TO: Current holders of STR Certificates/Licenses

The GovOs software is now live and in use for our short term rental program. However, an Account Number and Activation Code are required before the renewal process can begin. Letters are being emailed now to all current license holders. Please check your email for an email with an attached PDF document. It will provide instructions on how to proceed with renewing your license. If you have not yet received your letter, please bear with us as we work to get them scanned and emailed.

Putnam County issues lodging permits and short term vacation rental licenses in accordance with Chapters 22, 29, 54 and 66 of the Putnam County Code of Ordinances.

The Putnam County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on September 1, 2023 and the new short term vacation rental ordinances were adopted and the moratorium was lifted.

The new ordinances and the new application packet are posted below.  Please return the completed application packet with all supporting documents to the County Clerk via regular mail, email (lbutterworth@putnamcountyga.us) or in person at 117 Putnam Drive, Suite A, Eatonton, GA  31024.

IMPORTANT RENEWAL INFORMATION FOR EXISTING STR CERTIFICATE HOLDERS:

Renewal for 2024 is underway with the implementation of our new software, GovOS.  GovOs replaces the old TrustExchange software and will be used as a one stop shop for applications, licenses, tax forms, and any other information related to short term rentals.  Notifications are being sent by email to all existing STR Certificate holders with complete instructions on how to renew.  Deadlines will be extended as needed.  Please do not submit any renewal information until you are notified.  Thank you!
