Bridge closure scheduled in Milledgeville

Milledgeville, Ga. – A Georgia Department of Transportation contractor is scheduled to close United States 441 Business/State Route 29 Business at Fishing Creek during the week of May 12, 2025. This will be an extended closure that is expected to last about nine months.

This closure is needed for a bridge replacement project. The existing structure was built in 1949 and is below current design standards.

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes while construction takes place.

Official detour: US 441 Business south to US 441, US 441 north to SR 49, SR 49 east to Milledgeville.

Please note, the start date for this closure is subject to change due to weather conditions. The contractor is monitoring the weather and will implement the closure on a day with dry conditions.
