Equipment Operator

Putnam County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Equipment Operator.

This position is responsible for the operation of various pieces of medium and heavy equipment used to maintain county roads, drainage systems, and county rights-of-way. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the operation of various pieces of medium and heavy equipment, to include ag-tractors, skid steers, back-hoes, track loaders, rubber tire loaders, bull dozers, rollers, and excavators. This position is also responsible for the operation of medium and heavy trucks such as dump trucks, flat bed dumps, roll-off trucks, and water trucks. Additionally, this position is responsible for the operation of various pieces of gas-powered equipment such as trimmers, brush cutters, pole saws, and chain saws. Performs various other duties as assigned by a Roads and Bridges Crew Leader. This position reports directly to one of the Roads and Bridges Crew Leader.

Minimum qualifications include a valid class C Georgia driver’s license, knowledge and a level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Applicants must be physically able to walk and stand for long periods and repetitively lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs. An aptitude test will be conducted as a part of the interview process. This is a full-time position, and compensation will be based on qualifications and the current county pay scale with a comprehensive benefits package.
