Hice to Unveil Historical Document Display at Putnam County Courthouse

Jody Hice

On Friday, November 22, 2019, Congressman Jody Hice (GA-10) will participate in a dedication ceremony for the display of the Foundations of American Law & Government, a set of nine historic documents that will be prominently featured at the Putnam County Courthouse.

“Seven years ago, I was privileged to stand with Governor Nathan Deal as he signed the law permitting this collection of historical documents to be displayed in any public building in Georgia,” said Congressman Hice. “It was the culmination of the work I undertook as a private citizen long before I became a Member of Congress, and it gives me great pleasure to participate in the dedication ceremony of this important display in Eatonton. I invite everyone to join me at the Putnam County Courthouse to celebrate the founding documents of American Constitutional law.”

The Foundations of American Law & Government display contains documents that played a significant role in the establishment of our system of law and government, including the Ten Commandments, Mayflower Compact, and Declaration of Independence.
