Flag Retirement

Flag Retirement, Flag Disposal

As a revered symbol of freedom and justice the flag of the United States of America is to be treated with the utmost respect. This respect and care extends from the initial purchase or inheritance through out its life to its eventual retirement and destruction. The United States Flag code states "The Flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably burning".

We have 4 Flag receptacles in Putnam County. All located outdoors, accessible all year for proper disposal. The locations are:

Station 3 @ 610 Old Pheonix Road.

Station 2 @ 147 Pea Ridge Road.

Station 10 @ 882 Oak Street.

Board Of Commissioners Office @ 117 Putnam Drive.

These receptacles are checked weekly for collection and maintenance. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Program Coordinator at acovington@putnamcountyga.us or at 706-485-0469

GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

THANK YOU TO ALL VETERANS
