Putnam and Morgan County…

US 441 resurfacing project begins tomorrow

MADISON- Starting at 7 a.m. tomorrow morning, C and H Paving Inc. will officially start the $4.18 million resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation project on US 441/State Route (SR) 24 beginning south of Reids Road and extending to Interstate 20.

Work should start at the Putnam and Morgan County line and head south toward Eatonton. As weather allows, general work hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and also on some weekends until the project is complete.

The contractor will start patching the roadway first, followed by the single surface treatment paving and leveling for two to three weeks. The over 17-mile resurfacing job has a January 31, 2017 completion date.

Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; read signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected.

Citizens should monitor or download the App to stay current on all upcoming lane closures. Georgia DOT East on Facebook and @GDOTEastTraffic on Twitter also provide daily updates.
