114 Lena LN, Apt 77
Eatonton GA 31024
(Putnam County, Ga., November 15, 2015) – Putnam County firefighters were dispatched to an apartment building fire on Lena Lane just before 7:30 pm.
On arrival, firefighters found a two-story apartment building with heavy smoke coming from a middle apartment. The first floor of the apartment presented heavy flames with growth progressing to the second floor. Firefighters were able to control the blaze prior to fire spreading to other apartments. Both adult occupants reported to have left the apartment approximately an hour before one returned to find apartment filled with heat and smoke.
No injuries reported as a result of the fire.
PCFR had 11 apparatus & 15 personnel respond. Assistance was received from Eatonton Fire Dept., Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam EMS, Tri County EMC and The Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office.
Red Cross is assisting the occupants of Apt 77 with temporary housing needs due to the fire.
The cause and origin determination has revealed the fire began in the kitchen, apparently in the area of the electric range. While the exact cause has not yet been determined there is no indication that it was intentional.
