State Route 16 resurfacing project beginning Monday
What: Starting Monday a nearly 14-mile State Route (SR) 16 resurfacing and shoulder rehab project beginning east of Rooty Creek and extending to the Hancock County line
will affect the traveling public. C&H Paving, Inc. will begin the $2.7 million job working Monday through Saturday. Daily closures of the left and right shoulders require lane shifts and a traffic flagging operation.
The contractor will begin shoulder widening and roadway patching for the project to be complete by December 31, 2016.
The Department is committed to providing the highest level of safety for both motorists and workers. Motorists should understand that four-out-of-five victims in work zone crashes are actually drivers and passengers. GDOT has lost 58 employees in the last four decades due to work zone incidents. The Department asks all drivers to pay attention, slow down and watch for workers.
When: 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. weather permitting starting Monday, May 16 through Saturday, May 21
Where: SR 16 from mile post 10 to 24 from east of Rooty Creek in Putnam County to the Hancock County line
