SR 16 widening project closures required for shoulder building
What: The $2.7 million State Route (SR) 16 resurfacing and shoulder rehab project requires lane closures starting tomorrow. The traveling public should expect lane shifts and a flagging operation to make it through this Putnam County area until next Wednesday.
Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; read signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected.
When: Daily 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. weather permitting Tuesday, Aug. 23 through Wednesday, Aug. 31
Where: SR 16 mile post 10 to 24 from east of Rooty Creek in Putnam County to the Hancock County line; Both lanes will be affected at various times.
Why: C&H Paving Inc. is nearly done with the 14-mile project. All that remains is the shoulder building and final punch list items to include permanent striping. Georgia DOT expects the job to be complete within the next month if weather permits.
