An impounded male beagle that was in the care of Putnam County Animal Shelter for a month was transferred to the National Detector Dog Training Center to be tested for the Detector Dog Program.  The beagle passed his initial field tests and all health evaluations.  The beagle is now officially registered as a USDA canine, and is known as Fresco.  Fresco is enrolled in formal Dog Detector classes at the Training Center in Newnan, Georgia.  After graduation, Fresco will be stationed at a national airport, or in Mexico or Puerto Rico working with U.S. Customs.  Detector Dogs are trained to sniff out illegal perishable goods.  Way to go Fresco!  We are pleased to have been a small part of your life!
