At their September 19, 2017 meeting, the Board of Commissioners made a special presentation to the Putnam County 4H Shotgun Team:
WHEREAS, the Putnam County 4H Shotgun Team, led by Team Coach Brian Marsh, has a membership of four young men: Aaron Copelan, Riley Downs, Baylor Garland, and Mitch Marsh; and
WHEREAS, the Putnam County 4H Shotgun Team won the state championship at Forest City Gun Club in Savannah, Georgia on May 27-28, 2017, with a score of 861, a 38 target lead above the second and third place teams and where competition consisted of 100 targets for each competitor in each area of trap, sporting clays, and skeet; and
WHEREAS, the Putnam County 4H Shotgun Team traveled the 17 hour road trip to Grand Island, Nebraska to represent the state of Georgia and compete in the 4H National Competition during the week of June 25-30, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the Putnam County 4H Shotgun Team was the youngest team represented at the nationals and placed second in sporting clays, third in skeet, eleventh in trap and was named the second highest overall shotgun team in the nation; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Putnam County are proud of the team’s performance and the way in which they have represented our county.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Board of Commissioners of Putnam County does hereby commend and congratulate the Putnam County 4H Shotgun Team for their outstanding achievement.
