Board of Commissioners

Learn about Putnam County's Governing Body

Putnam County is governed by a Board of Commissioners consisting of a chairman, elected county-wide, and four commissioners, one from each district, as provided for in House Bill 248, Act Number 22, signed by the Governor on May 14, 2003.

The Board of Commissioners is a policy making body and oversees the executive functions of the county and assigns the day-to-day duties of the executive role to the county manager.

The Putnam County Board of Commissioners is beginning staggered terms in 2017.  Districts Three and Four and the Chairman will serve a two year term and Districts One and Two will serve a four year term.  The current terms expire December 31, 2018 and December 31, 2020.
