Putnam County is accepting applications for the position of Building Inspector.  This successful candidate is responsible for administering the Putnam County Code of Ordinances, specifically Chapter 18 Buildings and Building Regulations, Chapter 28 – Development Regulations, 30 – Environment, 34 – Flood, Chapter 48 – Signs, Chapter 66 – Zoning, and the International Building Codes. It also includes reviewing and approving construction plans, enforcing any ordinances adopted by Putnam County and or laws that are applicable in order to ensure compliance with relevant construction and county codes.  The position requires knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to occupational field.

Applicant should have and maintain certifications from the International Building Code in most of the following areas: building inspector, residential or commercial electrical inspector or electrical contractor, mechanical inspector, plumbing inspector, conditioned air contractor, journeyman plumber, master plumber or one and two-family dwelling inspector or have a valid certificate of registration as a professional engineer.

Five years of progressively responsible related experience or combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions are required.

This is a Full-Time position and compensation will be based on qualifications and the current county pay scale.
